Our beautiful new Grade 3 was launched at the beginning of this year with workshops during February and March. The feedback from all teachers who attended the Grade 3 Workshop was very positive.
NELSPRUIT GRADE 3 WORKSHOP
Twelve teachers attended the new Grade 3 workshop from all over Mpumalanga and Limpopo. It was a lot of fun to see the familiar faces again and exchange ideas.
The workshop was a great success and everyone enjoyed learning the new grade 3 syllabus. The teachers enjoyed the new music and looked forward to teaching it to their students.
The first four National medals were also danced, and the styles of the medals were discussed.
WESTERN CAPE WORKSHOP
Due to the distance the Cape Grade 3 workshop was combined with a workshop for students at an additional cost. As can be seen from the photo’s the workshop was well attended and everyone learned at lot from Nanette Gouws.
JOHANNESBURG GRADE 3 WORKSHOP
We really had a very good and fun workshop with yummy eats and treats. That’s how we roll in Boksburg with team of Irene Du Toit, Ronel Zeelie and myself, Dawn Gemmell.
We used Irene’s Studio which was lovely. We were there as a team at 8:00am to set up and be ready for the teachers who started arriving from 9:30am. We had coffee, tea, water and snacks – savoury and sweet – for their arrival, as well as for them to help themselves during the morning.
The way we worked was as follows:
- 3 Dancers from Irene demonstrated the Barre and were then sent out of the room
- Teachers ALL got up and learnt the Barre, both with and without the music
- Teachers made notes
- We got the girls in to do Port de Bras and then sent them out whilst the teachers learnt the work
This pattern was followed until 12:30 – when we completed the Grade 3 syllabus. We then did some National Medal Dances. The teachers were happy and responsive and seemed very content as they left the venue and were very excited to start teaching the new Grade 3.
NEWCASTLE GRADE 3 WORKSHOP
Six DASA teachers from Newcastle, Volksrust, Dundee and Vrede attended the new Grade 3 Workshop, held at Jenny Devenish’s ballet studio in Newcastle on Friday, 22 February.
The workshop started at 1pm with the new Grade 3 and took two hours, ending at 3pm. After an enjoyable tea break the teachers worked through the National Medal Dances, finishing the workshop at 4:30pm.
The teachers all thoroughly enjoyed learning the new Grade 3 and left the workshop
