DASA Dance Awards & Competition 2025: A Resounding Success. The 2025 DASA Dance Awards & Competition was a spectacular celebration of talent, creativity, and unity within the DASA community. Held over several vibrant days, the event brought together dancers, teachers, studios, adjudicators, and supporters, all with one shared passion—the joy of dance.
This year’s DDAC welcomed a record number of entries across both the Awards and Competitive Divisions, showcasing a broad range of dance styles including ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, national, hip hop, acrobatics, open, show dance etc. The adjudication panel—Su-Mari Swart and Joubert Jonker offered feedback and encouragement, ensuring that every dancer walked away with both recognition and insight for future growth. Special awardswere presented for outstanding performance,artistry, and spirit, and this year introducedChoreography Awards adding extra excitementand honour to the event. Beyond the stage, the atmosphere was filled with positivity and camaraderie.
The dedication of the backstage crew, front-of-house staff, and organisational team helped the event run smoothly, while families and supporters created a warm and encouraging environment for every performer.
To every dancer who stepped onto that stage—we are so proud of you. Keep dreaming big, working hard, and dancing with your whole heart. You ar ethe reason we do what we do. To our incredible teachers, thank you. Your love, guidance, and encouragement are what make events like these possible. You are shaping more than dancers; you are shaping strong, resilient individuals who shine far beyond the stage.
As the curtains close on the 2025 edition, DASA celebrates not just the incredible talent displayed, but also the sense of community and shared purpose that defines this event.
