Joyfulhearts Travels Around the World – UNISA Little Theatre
What a privilege it is to work with little children who carry such big dreams in their hearts and with adults who are finally getting the chance they never had when they were young. Over two magical evenings at the UNISA Little Theatre, more than 256 students from Pretoria CBD and Pretoria West took to the stage, many for the very first time. And oh, how they shone! Yes, there were unpointed toes and technique that wasn’t perfect, but perfection was never the goal. Dreams were realised, confidence was born, and courage stepped into the spotlight. Perhaps that is the whole point.
Sometimes, someone just needs one person to believe in them to believe that it is possible. That secure belief, that quiet promise of “no matter what happens, I will love you”, can make the impossible possible. And this show was proof.
At Joyfulhearts, we believe you shouldn’t wait for everything to be perfect before you begin. Start where you are. Use what you have. Make a difference today. Move those tables every week. Teach in the parking lot or in the passage. Fix their hair. Pick them up when they have no transport. Go where no one else is willing to go, because that’s where you’ll meet the most extraordinary and talented people. Support one another. Encourage one another.
We are meant to be a dance family, not a group of competitors pulling each other down. People may tell you it can’t be done. It’s important that you don’t listen. Because this production, these 256 brave performers, proved that it can be done, and beautifully so.
Have a blessed Holiday season.
