Perfect moments are rare, but the TC group of 2020 proved that it is indeed possible to “take a moment and make it perfect”, thank you ladies!
We were privileged to come together for a special TC session from 10-13 November 2020.

A big thank you to Mrs. Lesta Erasmus who made her studio (and home) available to us and also provided valuable input from her vast teaching experience.

The most impact we felt from being forced to have gone online with discussion classes in 2020, was the loss of practical face-to-face time and building of support and relationships between learners. We are grateful that this could be rectified during this special TC session, we even enjoyed a fellowship evening around a long table with delicious pizza, njam…

Mrs. Bronwyn Gemmell of TeriCorp (bottom right) presented a very beneficial and thorough BASIC FIRST AID course, she is practical in her approach and encourages participation. 13 candidates successfully completed the course.

As is evident in these photo’s, even baby CPR can be exciting and fun when you have dancers together!

For 3 exhausting days, Miss Hestie Johnson put the ladies through their paces with lots of attention to technical detail, placing and execution. We focussed not only on the syllabus settings, but especially on how to analyse steps and movements with various possibilities of how to break steps down and teach it to learners with different learning styles.

The week culminated with the DASA Teachers Practical Exams – Pre-Grades and Grades, on Saturday 14 November. Feedback from the examiners were that the learners were of exceptional standard, knew the syllabus work very well and had lovely new ideas. All of this despite special conditions where zoom or video classes counted towards their practical experience and physical time with a mentor or examiner was difficult to attain. Thank you to all the mentors, teachers and examiners who went the extra mile, contributing to the success of these candidates.

The learners really proved their commitment towards becoming teachers of distinction.

A few pictures capturing the spirit of unity and inspiration we experienced together:

We were making memories, nurturing confidence and getting to know each other as we worked together with a sense of accomplishment.

On the last day, even though exhausted, the ladies were still smiling!
