Your dance academy seems very profesional.the quote ‘Dancing teaches you a sense of accomplishment’is exactly how i feel i’ve got a passion for dance and hope to go far in it one day hopefully be part of the SA DANCE ACADEMY one day
Thanks for the comment Carne. We hope you will be part of the DASA family one day too!
I agree with you. I am planning to visit South Africa in May 21th, 2011-June 1st, 2011. Just wondering if you could recommend a good dance studio that offers Hip Hop, Street Jazz classes. Or if your school offers such classes I am looking for? Thank you for your time. BEst!
Hi Otto. Where will you be based in SA? DASA only offers ballet, but if you let me know where you will be I’ll try forward you some places.
There are SO many books /music etc. available to help children I do not know what to get and what to leave. I would just like to know what exactly must I let my child do at home when she has to practise ballet. Are there any music that we can buy to practice with? She is now 7 and just completed her Modern Ballet Bronze 1 and Classical Ballet Bronze 1. Thank you.
What an awesome website. Well done.
hi, im looking for a quality dance academy or an institution like yours (not necessarily a university or technikon) that includes the variety of modern and classical dance genres in the modules, hopefully start enrolling next year… i’m in gauteng, jhb…any suggestion?
HELLO!JUST LIKE SEL, I TOO AM LOOKING FOR A QUALITY BALLET ACADEMY IN THE BENONI AREA.PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?
Hi Sharon and Sel – thanks for the comments! It’s best to contact the DASA office on 012 346 7267 and ask for the contact details for the DASA area co-ordinator for the Benoni/JHB area.
Good Day, I want to find out about dance classes in Secunda for my little girl.. And what type of dance classes you have..
Regards
Good day, I used to be a ballet dancer for 11 years from the age of 4. I am now 25 years old and I miss my ballet days. Unfortunately circumstances forced me to stop. I’m looking for a career change, and my father told me to do what I love. Is there still hope for me having a career in ballet, be it dancing or teaching? If I were to teach, where do I start?
Kind Regards
would like to do acting and drama so what qualification do i need and how much will it cost aswell as how long it will take?

What is the difference between the Royal Academy of Dance and DASA? Why to some teachers teach both? I have heard that the RAD and Cecchetti Society is superior to DASA
Hi Sarah – thanks for your comment. The Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti are international ballet organisations, whereas DASA is a 100% South African and therefore understands the needs of our teachers, students and parents. Some teachers like to teach more than one syllabus to give their pupils a wider knowledge of dance. Over the past few years DASA has greatly increased its teacher membership with official ballet examinations now been held all over South Africa.
My daughter just finished intermediate foundation phase and I’m looking for a ballet studio near Affies (Meisies Hoër Pretoria) where she can continue her ballet. She doesn’t have transport so it would be great if someone can come to the hostel (there was such a person last year but unfortunately she moved) or else can provide transport. She is now 16 years old. Thank you very much.
Hi Karen, please conact the DASA office on 0123489136 for a ballet studio near Affies.
Good day,
My daughter received an SADA award in 2011. She is 4 and doing ballet and modern dance. Why would there be a date plate on the award “2004″ if she received the award in 2011? She was not even born in 2004. She has been dancing since 2009.
Thank you very much.
I am not sure if SADA is a recognised dance institution, as your site is DASA? Is Dance Academy of South Africa, and South African Dance Academy the same institiution?
Thank you
Hi Tracey, the South African Dance Academy is not the same as the Dance Academy of South Africa. You can contact our office on 0123489136 for registered DASA teachers in your area or see our “Contact Us” page for our teacher listing.
